I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. -Psalm 139:14 (NASB)
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. -Romans 12:2 (NLT)
I introduced my little boy to the 1964 special “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” which he thoroughly enjoyed (except for the Abominable Snowman). But the question came up about why the other reindeer made fun of him?
I explained to him that they made fun of Rudolph’s red nose, which was different from theirs. It even got to the point where Rudolph was down on himself about it. But they all learned in the end that what made Rudolph different was exactly what made him special.
Similarly, I told him, God makes each of us unique and different. We’re not meant to be the same, not to look the same or think the same. People may make fun of people for looking different or thinking differently, but they’re only making fun of how God made us: fearfully and wonderfully made in His image, and with free will.
Our differences are our blessings…we only have to realize it.
