Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. -Matthew 5:11
If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. -1 Peter 4:14
If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. -John 15:18-19
It’s definitely not cool or popular to be a believer in a sea of unbelievers, is it? Because of our adherence to God’s truth, we are castigated as ignorant and backward for not bending over backward to not allow for all behavior and morality as okay.
I’ve drawn fire for speaking and walking in His Word to expose longstanding wrongs—many of which I own contribution to by having silently accommodated—and it only becomes clearer to me as the opposition grows and rages that I’m headed in the right direction. Satan attacks harder as you walk straighter and talk louder in God’s name. To counteract this, the loving, truthful fire of the Holy Spirit can outburn, outshine, and outlast any other fire.
Think of the believers worldwide who face religious, legal, and physical persecution in Jesus’ name. All believers around the world should fight this fight, at whatever level of resistance is met, because God is not to be compromised.
You will face resistance. You will face hate. Just as Socrates explained in the Allegory of the Cave, it is the burden of those whose eyes have seen the truth to return to to the unseeing and unbelieving to help them come to see…and the seeing will face intense resistance and condemnation.
God is with you always, and sees when you face persecution in His name. Keep on fighting the good fight, because He will not leave your side through the battle.
