O night divine

For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. -Isaiah 9:6 (NASB)

Christmas Eve is a night more expectantly awaited by children worldwide than any other night of the year. But for all of those who lived in those very dark times before the arrival of Jesus, the anticipation of their savior’s arrival must’ve been unimaginably intense. Faith was tested through centuries of silence from God.

And then, finally, that wonderful, silent night arrived…the night of Jesus’ birth…the one who would deliver the world from the shackles of sin and the lifetime sentence of condemnation in hell. In that dark night, with very humble beginnings, God came to be with us on earth and deliver us.

Today, we commemorate His arrival, and make sure our kids know that it was Him the world wanted more than anything else. He was the first and best Christmas gift of all.

O night divine, indeed!

Today’s soundtrack

Third Day’s take on “O Holy Night,” almost twice the tempo of most versions of this song, is this agent’s favorite rendition. Enjoy!
