Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. -1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV)
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. -Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)
There is an agent in our ranks who endures excruciating physical, emotional, and mental pain daily. The doctors have, over and over, given her months, weeks, or days to live…but God keeps her going.
She’s married with two beautiful children, exhibiting superhuman perseverance and grace that inspires her family and friends, which I’m sure was a factor in her unbelieving husband coming to Christ. And we know from whom the superhuman part came from. She’s a walking testament to God’s strength in the face of pain and pressure that would crush her without Him.
Like her, we all have our crosses to bear in this life. Whether it be physical, mental, or emotional pain–or all of them–we cannot bear any of them on our own. We can only withstand all this fallen world throws at us because Christ lifts and motivates us from within.
As we persevere in our pilgrimage, we sometimes stagger and stumble and fall under the weight of all that is on our shoulders. Some things we easily pray away. Some things seem to stick like glue. But God is with us every step of the way. He has greater plans for us ahead…and while we hang in there, we glorify Him. And when we arrive, He can tell us:
Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness! -Matthew 25:23

I’ve posted this one before, but Steven Curtis Chapman’s “Long Way Home” sweetly reminds us that every step is on the path to our way home!
