Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? -Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭3‬ (NIV)

Oh, how quick we are to judge and point out someone else’s shortcomings or failings. How they’re somehow not Christian because they made mistakes. Woe be the one who thinks this way!

Every one of us is a sinner. Period. From tellers of white lies to killers, we are all fallen in this world. Sin is sin. Only One who walked this earth was sinless and blameless…the same One who took the blame and pain for all of us.

For those poor, professed true believers who wish to judge other believers based on observed (or imagined) sins, they have quickly forgotten that they, too, are sinners. This is no contest of who has sinned more than the other. Such comparison is a worldly way to see things.

God loves us all despite our natures, and we are not to earn our way through labor into heaven. It is only through His grace that we are saved, and no one can snatch us from God’s hands (John 10:28).

So when you sin, know that Jesus was already judged for your sin. Bring it to your Father in repentance and confession so you can take up His yoke once more. Renew your mind daily. Walk tall and without shame, proclaiming His name.

If you judge, likewise take your sins to your Father. He is surely the only One who should judge, and the only One whose judgment surely matters.

Jesus paid the price to cover our sins and secure our salvation. Let’s live free of judging others by remembering the judgment and execution faced for us out of the greatest sacrificial love.
