When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” -Mark 2:17 (NKJV)

Who doesn’t love Wi-Fi hotspots? They connect us to the internet when we’re in range, giving us access to far more than we can do without the connection.

In His time here on earth, Jesus was the walking hotspot who went deep into strongholds of darkness, to connect sinners with God’s love and grace. The religious leaders of the time, the Pharisees, couldn’t grasp that:

And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, “How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?” -Mark 2:16 (NKJV)

As Christ followers, we continue His work as walking hotspots to reflect and bring God’s love and grace wherever we go: at work, at school, at home, and everywhere in between. But as soon as we let our flesh reign and act like anyone else who doesn’t have God in their hearts, the connection is severed…we’re in the dark as much as everyone around us.

As walking hotspots, we can be the agents of God’s healing love and messengers of His Good News, making pockets of light throughout this dark world.

“Heaven and Earth” by The Bible Project explains how the two spheres of Heaven and earth once overlapped, were driven apart by original sin, and how Jesus brings them together again.
