And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; -Mark 16:17 (NIV)

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
-James 4:7 (NKJV)

Did you know that you’ve been entrusted to wield tremendous power?

As believers, we have been given power and authority over the enemy and his minions. We have been given the power to channel God’s power to bring His healing love and restoration, as His hands and feet, to this world of pain.

You may not feel very powerful, because the enemy is very, very sly. He knows every weakness of yours, and will use them to maximum advantage. He will work his way into your thoughts, your words, and actions, to distract you from the power you have been given…the very power that banishes him. The truth is, Satan is only as powerful as we allow him to be!

It’s important to shore up your defenses where you can by always filling up on God’s Word. Hide it in your heart. Fill your heart and mind with it when you are tempted to put it off in favor of something seemingly harmless, but in fact is pulling you away from God’s Word. God’s Word is your sword you should carry at all times.

You also have the power to utter a name that will drive away the enemy in an instant…the name of the Incarnate Word (the Word become flesh). Call on Jesus’ name, and the enemy must flee. We are enforcers, called to keep the enemy at bay in this world, and must remember to call Jesus’ name when we are in despair or temptation or anger. There is immense power in His name.

Call Him next time your mind or heart stray from the godly path, the one you know you should walk. Call Him in supplication for those who need His aid.

We are conduits for God’s power here on earth, but God has not left us here ill-equipped…quite the opposite! Let us continue the work of the apostles as we continue our part in the Great Commission, with the light of His Word and great name to banish the enemy back to the shadows.
