The LORD looks down from heaven and sees the whole human race. -Psalms 33:13 (NLT)
Have you ever had someone say or do something so bad to you that you wish someone else witnessed it, because you’re sure no one would believe it?
When that happens to me, I break the fourth wall. In stage and other visual performances, if you imagine the performers you’re watching in a box, the fourth wall is the invisible wall that separates you (the viewer) from the performers, who are unaware of your presence. Sometimes, however, a performer may look right through that fourth wall and look to, or even address, the audience.
In our lives, we’re the performers on stage, and God is watching us play out the roles in our lives. And, for me, breaking the fourth wall to tell God that I can’t believe this other person did or said that brings me comfort.
Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. -Galatians 6:7 (NLT)
Fellow true believer, God is not mocked. He sees all. You are never alone in your experiences, good or bad. Nothing is hidden from His view. Take comfort in knowing that God is just, and will serve justice according to His will and timing:
But the LORD watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love. He rescues them from death and keeps them alive in times of famine. -Psalms 33:18-19 (NLT)
