Perhaps it takes a purer faith to praise God for unrealized blessings than for those we once enjoyed or those we enjoy now. -A.W. Tozer

Therefore, I tell you, all the things you pray and ask for–believe that you have received them, and you will have them. -Mark 11:24 (HCSB)

We thank God every day for what He has done for us, and what He does for us right now in our lives. But we can also thank Him for what He has planned for us in the future…and what He doesn’t, for our good.

I can’t tell you how much peace that gives me to know that, in all things, in all situations, that He is doing just as Paul wrote to the Christians in Rome:

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. -‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:28‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)

What comfort to know that, even before we know where our feet will land, God knows where we will step, and use those steps in His larger plan for our good! We only need to keep our eyes on Him as we step, and remember who we’re walking for.

Sure, sometimes we’ll forget and stumble. We stumble as soon as our eyes are off our Lord. But He is so good. Just as Jesus reached out to lift Peter out of the water when Peter took his eyes off Him, so does He do with us after we stumble.

All the while, walk for Him, and to Him, praying and believing for what He has put in your heart. Pray that He will align your will with His, to change your heart for Him.

So, count it all joy when you face your trials, because they spiritually mature you in perseverance and steadfastness (James 1:2-4). And knowing the longer view that God’s got your back, even in the future, makes it a lot easier to face the unknown–because it’s not unknown to God, who’s waiting for you there.
