For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. -Philippians 4:13 (NLT)
You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. -1 John 4:4 (NLT)
I’ve been a Superman fan for decades, watching reruns of the 1950s television show, the movies in the 1980s, the late 1940s serials online, and then the various movie reboots after 2000. In all of them, Superman is a singular person who has limitless power, but can be stopped cold with the green stone from his planet: kryptonite. When exposed to it, it can weaken him, shatter his imperviousness, and even kill him.
As believers, Christ lives in us, imparting the same limitless power to overcome all odds that He displayed in His life. He overcame temptation, sin, and death, and through His resurrection, we can also rise above and conquer…and rest assured in joining Him for eternity in His Father’s house.
True believers, because of Christ in them, are supermen and superwomen. They can do far more, endure far more, than without Christ in them. But our power is not ours, but His, so we are conduits channeling His power…and the key to it coursing in and through us is focusing on Him.
As soon as we lose focus and are distracted, or even willfully choose to look elsewhere, we block His power and blessings. And it doesn’t take long crash and burn, like Superman getting hit with a kryptonite bullet.
But just as Superman recovers by removing himself from Kryptonite, so can we by removing our focus from distractions and refocusing on the Lord in prayer, fellowship, thought, and action. And up, up, and away we go again…we are unstoppable because of He who is in us.

Jeremy Camp’s “Same Power” reminds us that Christ is in us.
