In the same way I will not cause pain without allowing something new to be born,” says the Lord. “If I cause you the pain, I will not stop you from giving birth to your new nation,” says your God. -Isaiah 66:9 (NCV)
Every mother who’s pushed a child out of her womb knows the incomparable pain of giving birth to a child…and the even greater joy of the child who is born from that pain.
Likewise, when our walk in faith is through a valley of pain and suffering, we can trust in His higher purposes for our circumstances. We also need to call on the Holy Spirit to discern between the painful consequences that are self-inflicted, and those that are upon us independently of our actions. But regardless of the root, we can always learn and grow and improve from them.
I can testify that walking on a broken road that seems endless has only strengthened me and made me more nimble and flexible–all thanks to God, who carried me through it all. God never leaves our side, no matter how bad things get. And in the deepest, darkest, hottest valleys, where the environment is so hostile and suffocating that you can barely function, let His full armor shield you and grow you under His protection.
Trust that God will make a way out of your valley where there seems to be no way. Trust that He will put all these broken pieces together to assemble something amazing. The pain is a necessary step toward the beginnings of something new…a newer, stronger creation in Christ in you, and outcomes and joys ahead you could never have dreamed possible.
