Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. -Colossians 4:2

Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire? -Corrie Ten Boom

True prayer is measured by weight, not by length. A single groan before God may have more fullness of prayer in it than a fine oration of great length.” -C. H. Spurgeon

Prayer is a spiritual law which cooperates with the mind of God. It has more in it than merely petition. It clothes itself in reality and power, with the force of God Himself. It is an attitude of spirit and mind. Language is secondary in true prayer. -Gossner

Prayer is essential to the Christian life. It is our line of communication and supply with the Lord.

And when we pray, we praise. We petition. We give thanks. We receive guidance and direction. We pray for strength and wisdom and grace. We confess and cleanse. We reboot, refreshed and refocused on what we lost track of in our flesh.

Maybe you only pray when you need something. Maybe your prayer life has dwindled to little or nothing. Maybe the trials of this life have got you believing that maybe there isn’t a point to it. I tell you now that prayer is crucial.

Make time for prayer first, as you have allowed time for other things to fill your life, and you will find that God will help you re-prioritize things, and shed what is not truly of importance in a godly walk. You will discover “Oh! I was looking at this all wrong!” and thank God for putting your focus back on Him, because all other things fall into place once you do.

If your prayer life has suffered, you should know that God is lovingly, patiently waiting for you to rejoin the line of communication and supply. He never left. Restart your prayer life by giving Him the first minutes of your day, and then other times of your day, and you will find He fills your days and nights with meaning and purpose like you never could have imagined.
