Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. -2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)
The LORD’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. -Lamentations 3:22-23 (NASB)
I’m really bad about gloomily forecasting how my day and week will be, based on what I anticipate my workload will be, how much sleep I got (the less sleep, the worse the forecast), and everything else that’s going on in my life. I know I’m not alone in doing this.
But after being saved, my life was rebooted. I still have vestiges of this forecasting in my mind, but I can more easily catch it early as my flesh and the enemy trying to start me off on the wrong foot, and look instead to the Lord to bless and empower me to do things to His glory through the day.
Now, I know that He lights our steps before us, and we only need to look to make our next step. That step can be a day, or an hour, or a moment. I’m learning more and more to live in the moment, and to make the most of each moment to His glory. So instead of negatively anticipating the outcome of a meeting or conversation, I instead ask Him to give me grace to handle what’s ahead, and to assume the best from those with whom I interact.
So now, every morning, I remember I’ve been rebooted, with fresh mercies and blessings for each moment and step.
And when you reboot, you could inspire others to do the same.
